Synopsis:
In "Waiting for the End of the World!", the Defenders track James-Michael Starling to Las Vegas, finding him as he escapes from Ruby Thursday. As Starling's powers surge uncontrollably, the team confronts both Ruby Thursday and the alien Protar, who reveal that Starling and Omega the Unknown were part of an experiment to advance their race's evolution. Realizing the danger he poses, James-Michael chooses to end his own life. In the aftermath, Moondragon chastises the Defenders for their actions leading to the extinction of an alien race and departs from the team.
