Synopsis:
Physicist Ray Palmer creates a lens using fragments from a white dwarf star, granting him the ability to shrink objects. When a cave-in traps his students, he uses the technology on himself, successfully shrinking and returning to normal size—becoming The Atom. This issue also introduces Plant Master, a villain capable of manipulating plant life, and marks the first appearance of Maya. The story sets the stage for Ray Palmer’s adventures as a microscopic superhero.
