Synopsis:
While on a cruise to Europe, Cyclops is contacted by Professor X, who informs him that he has located Lucifer—the being responsible for his paralysis. Professor X warns that Lucifer must not be harmed, as it could doom Earth. Meanwhile, the Avengers detect a great evil and, following Thor's hammer, encounter the X-Men. A battle ensues between the two teams due to a misunderstanding about Lucifer's threat. Eventually, they realize the true danger: a thermal bomb set by Lucifer that will detonate if he is harmed. Working together, the X-Men disable the bomb, and Professor X allows Lucifer to go free to prevent the Earth's destruction. This issue marks the first crossover between the X-Men and the Avengers.
