Synopsis:
Jean Grey is residing on Muir Island, where Moira MacTaggert tests her strange Phoenix powers, unaware that a dangerous, hunger-driven entity known as Mutant X (Proteus) has escaped confinement. Meanwhile, Jean, believing her X-Men teammates are dead, experiences a vision of the 18th century before being attacked by the escaped entity. Back at the X-Mansion, the team continues their rigorous training in the Danger Room, oblivious to the threat.
